Me and Mickey
Me and Captain Mickey!

Hi everyone, and welcome to my blog! I’m Jody, and I love to travel, but especially to cruise. As you can see from the picture, Disney Cruise Line is one of many cruises I’ve been on, and holds a special place in my heart as it was the cruise line that my children and I experienced our first few cruises on, and is also where I met my husband!

In early 2020 I went on a completely gluten-free diet thanks to an autoimmune disease, and that was the end of eating gluten for me! I am fortunate that my husband does all the cooking (a job that I detest!), and he also went gluten-free as he didn’t want to cook two separate meals, and it ended up helping with an issue he has, so we are now a totally gluten-free household.

I’ve been a vegetarian for well over 30 years, and have been cruising since 2011, so have a lot of awareness of how many cruise lines deal with dietary requirements. However, thanks to COVID-19, cruising was off the cards until mid 2021, when a number of cruise lines started running what they termed “staycation cruises” around the UK.

Given my newfound gluten-free status, I was keen to find out as much as I could about how being gluten-free would work on a cruise ship. There is some information out there, but not as much as I would have liked, and so following our first gluten-free cruise experience on MSC in May 2021, I decided to start my own blog to help others out there seeking information.

This blog will mainly concentrate on gluten-free cruising, but there will be articles about other travel we do. Although I am vegetarian, my husband is not, so it will be a good mix of what is out there.

NB: Throughout the site there may be links to Amazon or other online stores, some of these will be affiliate links which would earn me a little bit of money to go towards paying for the site’s hosting costs.

Also, all opinions on this blog are my own and I am not affiliated in any way with any cruise line, nor do any cruise lines or travel agents contribute to this blog.

And finally, I am not a medical expert so nothing written on here should be construed as being medical advice. Everyone is different and if you have any medical concerns or queries please get in touch with your own medical professional.
