Mamma Mia! The Party. Dinner and Show Experience at the O2 July 2022

Not my usual kind of review, but we had such a great time I thought I’d do a post about it on my blog. My lovely husband booked this for me for my birthday (after a not so subtle hint!), and it was every bit as brilliant as I’d imagined. Plus, if you have to be gluten-free for whatever reason, the menu is surprisingly good.

Booking

You can book online here, or on the telephone if you have accessibility requirements. For individual dietary requirements, including gluten-free, the website states you must contact them at least 48 hours prior to attendance. The email address for this is food@mammamiatheparty.co.uk.

The website has a whole section about food and drink, including the menus, and a link to their allergen information. Details can be found here.

The Food

Not surprisingly, given that the party is based in Nikos Taverna, the menu is Greek based. When looking everything up online before hinting to my husband I’d love to go, I was very happy to see that almost everything is gluten free. If only everywhere catered like this! The bread and crackers obviously are not safe, but these are replaced with GF rolls (not the best, but fine with the dips!).

The standard dessert is shown as gluten free, however our waitress told us that it was not safe as it was a ‘may contain’, and it was reassuring that they were aware of this level of information. Sadly we weren’t able to have the vegan dessert as an alternative, as isn’t GF, so we were given a mix of berries with coconut cream.

Specially made dessert as the standard one was a ‘may contain’

You don’t get everything at once, instead it is served throughout the evening, with pauses in the entertainment.

The Show

I don’t want to give too many spoilers, but if you like Abba songs, and enjoyed Mamma Mia, then it’s definitely worth booking! Doors open at 18.30 for the evening show, and the after disco was still going strong when we left around 22.30.

Have an amazing time! It’s so much fun and I’d love to go again. We were so impressed by how much of the menu they’ve made naturally gluten free, definitely makes life easier.

Thank you so much for this, I am gluten and dairy intolerant and my girlfriends have been trying to convince me to go to this and now you have put my mind at rest. We holiday in Greece so I know how safe most of their food is but didn’t really think!! Thank you again.

Definitely say yes to your girlfriends and go along to see the show. It was an absolutely fantastic experience, and the fact that the food was so good was the icing on the cake. I would love to go again!
